All sorts of web sites are appearing that engage in different levels of online chat. Some use web cams and audio, while others rely on purely written forms. Blogs are a good example of online writing although at times can be more one-way depending on their purpose. If they allow posting and replies then a degree of chat can be achieved.As the web chat phenomenon grows we are sure that all kinds of new and innovative ways will be created that allow people to communicate in more realistic ways. 3-D environments are already coming into being but I'm sure it's not the end. The term 'chat web sites' will no doubt take on different meanings as this technology driven market explodes. It won't be about simple post and reply anymore, it won't even be international; it could easily instigate a generation of isolated individuals to form a new culture without the traditional boundaries — but perhaps some new ones. A generation who like to chat is emerging!
