The advantages for this type of camera is that they offer video streaming and a better image quality. This is usually desired for online conferencing because you have a better image than the plug and play webcams. The disadvantage to this type of webcam is that they are more expensive and usually require a high connection speed.
Notebook Webcams
These webcams are specially made for notebooks note the term 'notebook webcams'. These small, light, and sleek webcams range in price. As stated before the higher the price the more extras the webcam consists of.The lower priced cameras usually have a built in microphone. This enables those that travel to not have to carry around a microphone along with their webcam to do online chats. These particular webcams are traditionally only compatible with windows.
The middle priced cameras typically have automatic tracing devices and built in microphones. The automatic facing tracing is helpful because it provides a better picture for chatting. These particular webcams are only compatible with windows.
Then you have the higher priced notebook webcams that include Automatic Face Tracking, a Digital Zoom, a built in Microphone, Pro Editing Software, and is a USB plug in interface. The Digital Zoom is the highlight on this camera because the cheaper ones do not typically run a zoom. This zoom is very helpful when you are trying to show small or far away objects during a chat.
